Each year the Herky C.A.R.E.S. Project has signature, traditional events in addition to our programs and initiatives. These are our signature events that occur throughout the academic year!  It is our hope that these events will educate and uplift our student body- Check them out here!

International Student Welcome Night - Fall Semester
This collaborative event with co-sponsored by ARH, UISG, and ISSS in an effort to welcome our international students to the University of Iowa.  Both domestic and international students are invited to take part in games, ice cream, and conversation!

Member Social - Fall Semester
This social will allow members of the Herky C.A.R.E.S. Project to come together, have fun, and potentially sign up to be on the committee for one of our signature events.

Out of State Dinner - Fall Semester
This dinner is for out of state students who are new to the University of Iowa and live in the residence halls.  It's purpose is to give students a chance to get to know others from their region, participate in Iowa trivia, and have a fantastic dinner at Old Brick.  If you are an out of state student interested in attending, keep an eye out for an RSVP in the fall.

The Energy Bowl - Fall Semester
The Energy Bowl is a campus-wide competition among residence halls to educate students about and promote energy conservation-practices! Halls can earn points by requesting lectures on cutting energy consumption, attending events put on by their RA's, consuming less energy in their individual halls, and taking the Eco-Hawks pledge! The winners at the end of this three-week long competition win a Pool and Pizza Party - courtesy of Herky C.A.R.E.S.! Make sure to participate in this event next fall.

Hunger Banquet - Fall Semester
The Hunger Banquet is a simulation event that targets the topic of food privilege. Students attend a meal, and at random are either assigned a meal similar to what an individual of a upper-class, middle-class, or lower-class individual may eat on a typical day. This event includes a meal and a stimulating discussion. Keep an eye out for this banquet next fall.

 IC Red Week (Campus-Wide Collaboration) - Fall Semester​​​
A week of promoting HIV/AIDS awareness around the Iowa City area, hosted by a collaboration of University of Iowa student organizations.

MLK Day ON! - Monday, January 15th, 2018
MLK Day ON! is a day of service hosted in part by Herky C.A.R.E.S. and other campus organizations. Students have an opportunity to honor the day by being paired and volunteering with a local organization to better the Iowa City community.

Hawks Don't Hate! - February 28th, 5-8PM, March 1st, 1-3:30PM, & March 2nd, 5-8PM
Hawks Don't Hate! is a photo campaign put on by Herky C.A.R.E.S. intended to challenge stereotypes and encourage individual expression. Students are encouraged to join Herky C.A.R.E.S. members in either Burge Lobby, the IMU Hubbard Commons, or Hillcrest Lobby to learn about stereotypes and stigma, and take a photo to challenge a stereotype about an identity that they own
